In Season 2 Episode 28, DaVo, a Professional Piercer since 1994, covers the Pros and Cons of the male genital piercing, the Dydoe piercing.

I, also known as DaVo, have been a professional body piercer and have owned the Axiom Body Piercing Studio in Des Moines, Iowa, since 1994. My focus on education and helping clients make informed decisions about getting pierced has always been a significant part of my business practices and services. With my website and increasingly on YouTube, I hope to expand and inform others outside of my small part of the world. Piercings are usually done in pairs through the ridge or crown of the glands of the penis.

Traditionally placed on each side, but can be done more towards the top, often called a King’s Crown.

History:

They are a thoroughly modern invention, which can be credited to Doug Molly (Richard Simonton)'s creative mind. Claiming that the piercing was created and popularized by a Jewish college organization called the Cyprian Society. He argued that the piercing was developed as a way to return the sensitivity that was lost from circumcision. This was first mentioned in Adventures of a Piercing Freak in 1975.

More than likely it was developed in the early piercing subculture in Southern California during the 1970s and then perfected at Gauntlet.

Things to look for:

Piercer is experienced, professional, informative, and makes you feel comfortable. They offer a consultation that includes aftercare, risks, and other relevant information.

The piercer should evaluate your anatomy.

Should have correct jewelry, as in no thinner than 14g, and should be a curved barbell.

You may experience bleeding for 5-6 days, and a sanitary napkin or pad may be necessary for protection. Buy them in advance.

It is not going to feel comfortable to have sex for the first week or more.

Does the piercer provide aftercare products and offer both written and verbal instructions for aftercare?

The Piercing Experience:

Consultation & Jewelry Selection

Waiver, Set Up, and Disinfection

The marking should be marked, and you should check them

Should be done Freehand with a needle receiving tube or cork

Pierced straight through

The jewelry follows the needle. May use a threaded taper pin.

The jewelry is closed

There may be some slight to moderate bleeding.

Maybe redness, but the pain fades quickly

Piercing is sensitive to the touch.

Healing:

The average healing time is 8-12 weeks or longer.

Clean with saline twice daily

Must practice cross-contamination prevention and isolate the piercing, avoiding any contact with it.

Clean hands

no oral contact or sexual contact without a condom for the first 6 months

No Swimming

Keep Pets Away

Keep bedding clean, as well as anything that comes into contact with it.

Avoid playing with the piercing or excessive movement.

Sex when comfortable, genital at first

Do not sleep on the piercing

First 3-5 days you can experience redness/discoloration, heat, and tenderness to the touch.

Jewelry:

Should leave jewelry in at all times

May need to downsize jewelry

Avoid jewelry with sharp edges, points, or dangling elements.

Best Jewelry Options:

 

Curved Barbell

The Piercing is through a mucus membrane, and silver jewelry should be avoided.

Living with the piercing:

The jewelry should be left in at all times.

Migration and rejection. If you notice it, you should see your piercer, and if it continues, remove the jewelry.

When switching partners, practice safe sex

Abandoning the piercing:

If the piercing is still healing, the piercing should close quickly. Practice cross-contamination

If the piercing is healed, it may take some time to close, and you may have scarring.
