Vortex Check failed.

Having the same issue with Vortex 1.14.8 on a relatively new PC with Windows 11 Pro (24H2) installed with all the latest important Windows updates. Here is the sequence of events:

I get the Check Failed message (exactly the same as above).I click on "Fix".Vortex starts downloading the Desktop Runtime somewhere on my PC. See attachment for screenshot. (Where does it download it? I checked in the installation folder and in the AppData folder and can't find anything).Once it is done, it loops back to the same "Check Failed" message, as if it didn't even try to install anything.Then, if I click "Fix" again, it finally shows a message that it is being installed, same as in OP's post, yet no installer window to be seen anywhere, even when minimizing all other windows. After a few seconds, loops back to the "Check Failed" message.Restarted the computer just in case and launched Vortex again, same issue.

Solution: Finally managed to fix it by following the Troubleshooting Guide and downloading + installing the .NET Desktop Runtime directly from this link: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0

Now, I am unsure why Vortex fails to automatically install the .NET Desktop Runtime since I'm on a 2-months old PC with very few applications installed. Even if the Vortex dev team manages to fix this particular issue, the amount of messages posted on the support forum about this issue clearly shows that users are confused as what is going on and how to fix it. So here's my feedback:

Vortex should diagnose the issue better and make it clear to the user what happened. If it fails at step 3 above, why shouldn't Vortex itself tell the user that it wasn't able to install the .NET Desktop Runtime with a clear, new message that explains the situation? Instead it loops back to the same Check Failed window, with the same "Fix" button that still doesn't work. Very confusing for the user who is left wondering what the hell is happening and if they messed something up.Once it detects that it failed to install the .NET Desktop Runtime, it should tell the user what to do next, i.e. redirect them to the the appropriate resources on the web to manually troubleshoot the issue. I shouldn't have to google the issue and hope that the solution shows up somewhere in the results, the app should show me a link to an up-to-date troubleshooting guide I can trust, or just straight up tell me potential solutions I can try next.
