You can find a lost iPhone or iPad on the web at iCloud.com/find or with the Find My app on another device.
If you can't find your device right away, mark it as lost to protect it.

When you sign in to iCloud.com/find, you can use the Find Devices app to locate your devices. Once you’re in the app, review the list of your devices under All Devices and tap the one you want to find. On the device information card, you can play a sound to help locate it, mark it as lost, or erase it.
There are a few ways to mark your iPhone or iPad as lost. When you mark your device as lost, your device is put in Lost Mode, which means your device is locked with your passcode, and payment cards and passes that you use with Apple Pay are suspended. You can also display a phone number and message that allows others to get in touch with you if they find your device.
When you mark as device as lost:
It won't appear online and in Lost Mode until the device is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.
If you use Stolen Device Protection for iPhone, Face ID or Touch ID is required to turn off Lost Mode — so even if a person has your iPhone and knows your passcode, they'll still be locked out of your device.
If you have AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, don't remove your iPhone from Find My or your Apple Account until your claim has been fully approved.
To sign in to iCloud.com/find, you don't need a verification code — so you can mark your device as lost, even if it's your trusted device that's lost. If you're asked for a verification code, select the Find Devices button instead.

In the Find My app (or Find Devices on Apple Watch), go to the Devices tab.
Scroll down and select your missing iPhone or iPad.
Scroll down to Lost [Device], then turn on Lost Mode.
Follow the onscreen steps if you want to display your contact information on your missing device.
Tap Activate.
On a Family Sharing group member's device, your iPhone or iPad appears underneath their devices.
If Find My wasn't turned on for your device before it was lost, it won't appear at iCloud.com/find or in the Find My app and you can't mark it as lost or remotely erase it.
If your iPhone or iPad is lost and you're unable to find it, follow these additional steps to protect your accounts and personal information, and replace your device (if applicable).
If your iPhone is covered by AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, file a claim for an iPhone replacement.
Don't remove your iPhone from Find My or your Apple Account until your claim is fully approved.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss is not available in all countries and regions.
Report it to local law enforcement. They might request the serial number of your iPhone or iPad, which you can find even if you don't have the device.
Contact your wireless carrier to report your missing iPhone, ask them to disable your account, and file a claim if your iPhone or iPad is covered under your wireless carrier plan.

You can remotely erase your device using the Find My app on another device or at iCloud.com/find. But make sure that you've tried everything else to find it, because erasing your device can't be undone.
Don't remove the device from Find My, even if you remotely erase it. Removing the device from your Find My list removes Activation Lock, which will make it easier for the thief to unlock and resell your device.
If you filed a claim with AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, don't remove the device from Find My or your Apple Account, even if you remotely erase it.
If your device is offline, the remote erase process begins the next time it's online.

Make sure that your Apple Account is secure by reviewing your Apple Account information. If you find changes that you don't recognize or didn't make, update that information and change your Apple Account password.
Use your other trusted device (like an iPad or Mac) to review your account. Go to Settings, then tap [Your Name] or System Settings, tap [Your Name], then tap Sign-In & Security to review your security settings.
After you sign in with your Apple Account, you can review your account information. There may be a waiting period before you can make changes to your security settings.
You can review your account information at account.apple.com.
If you have a trusted device, you will be directed to make any changes on that device.
