Response to a previus post - thank you, got the monitor to show but nothing but the background on the display.

What i am trying to accomplish is somewhat simple.

I have a 17" laptop and want to connect it to a monitor and keyboard etc.  All but the monitor work perfectly.

The monitor shows the wallpaper from the laptop but no icons or programs.  For some reason the second monitor is void of all softwre etc.

This is a 17" laptop that is not meant to dock but i have purchased a Toshiba dynadock which is a USB hub and everything has linked fine except the monitor

Anyone have any idea why this would be happening and what a solution might be?
